How to Find the Right Pair of Jeans for You

Jeans are meant to be effortlessly cool, chic and comfortable. Yet, they seem to be one the hardest piece of clothing to shop for. With all the washes, cuts and styles out there, it can be easy to get lost in the chaos. When you finally find that perfect pair – you know, those jeans that seem like they were made for you – it feels amazing. But, how do you get there?

Here are a few denim rules to live by.

If you have legs that tower over everyone else, often times you can get away with many different styles – high-waist, low-waist, distressed – the list goes on. For the most flattering, however, look for a slim, tighter pair that really emphasizes the length of your legs. A tapered skinny is often the way to go.

Or, step out of your comfort zone and try a flare. This sassy style is coming back stronger than ever.

If you’ve got curves or an hourglass shape, look for a pair of jeans that cuts higher in the back. A contoured waist is also great as it hugs the waist where other styles may leave too much room. Try a classic boot-cut to show off all of your great curves.

Or, these days we love the wide-leg look. These trendy jeans lengthen the legs while calling attention to the ankle.

Not only is it difficult to find a great pair of jeans that don’t flood the ankles, sometimes it’s hard to find denim that’s flattering for a petite frame. If you’re smaller in stature, try a cropped skinny. You also can’t go wrong with a boot-cut.

For an alternative look, a high-waisted jean will add length to your legs. A black or darker wash is great for achieving this, and an added heel will have your legs go on for days.

For the pear-shaped girl, a trouser jean is always a good way to go. This tailored denim will skim over full hips and give you a continuous long line. If the tailored look is not your thing, try a straight leg. The cut will give you a slim silhouette and have you looking amazing.

For a great plus-size jean fit, we love boyfriend or high-waisted. A high-waisted jean will cover any areas you’re not totally in love with, and boyfriend jeans are one of our favorite trends right now. Not to mention, they’re so comfortable. Of course, the boot-cut jean always looks fabulous, as well. An even line from hip-to-hem will straighten and lengthen your legs.

Finally, it’s important to keep in mind there is no exact science. With styling varying with every brand, the perfect pair is what makes you feel great. Happy shopping!
